Cardiff 0-1 Spurs: 5 Key Things We Learned

2. Cardiff Should Be Okay This Year

Cardiff City will survive in the Premier League this season. A bold statement, perhaps, but the Bluebirds have shown enough so far this season - and indeed in the match against Tottenham - that they have enough quality to stay up. In David Marshall they have a great goalkeeper, in Steven Caulker they have one of England's best young centre backs, in Gary Medel they have a solid defensive midfielder capable of breaking up any opposition attack and in Craig Bellamy they have a seasoned Premier League veteran whose experience will be vital for them. On another day, Cardiff could have come away from this match with a point - or even three. Had Hugo Lloris been penalised for handling outside the box and/or had Ben Turner's disallowed goal been given, the result might have had a very different complexion. Having already beaten Manchester City in Cardiff, and having given Spurs a stern test (albeit being second best throughout), Cardiff should out-perform the likes of Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Hull City in the league table at the very least.
