3. Rafael Benitez
Can he be the man to finally get Torres firing again? Ever since Abramovich splurged £50 million for Fernando Torress transfer from Liverpool its been the bane of Ancelotti, AVB and RDM to try and get the Spaniard back to something like his old form. All 3 have failed and all 3 have been sacked. The last time the former-dangerman looked anything close to in-form was back when Benitez was in charge of him at Liverpool, 3 seasons ago. Benitezs tactical prowess is well-known by all but his mis-steps in the transfer market are perhaps a bit too gaudy even for the spend-happy Russian (Aquilani anyone?). He inherited a treble-winning side from Jose Mourinho when he took over at Inter Milan but demanded investment in the first team; he didnt get it and the club struggled for 6 months before Benitez was shown the door (one should point out that since then Inter have been through a succession of managers including Romans first sacking Claudio Ranieri). Since then hes been linked to almost every high-profile job in Europe but is said to be waiting for the right opportunity to return to management, could Chelsea be that? His outspoken comments on the fans is unlikely to endear him to the Stamford Bridge faithful but as RDM found out this morning, football is a fickle world.
