Chelsea Transfers: Debunking 5 Ridiculous Summer Rumours

2. Robert Lewandowski

Lewandowski Another doomed transfer rumour was that which suggested Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski was set for a switch to the Premier League this summer. Chelsea, along with both Manchester clubs, were chasing the Polish international's signature, and since we're talking as though this were a metaphorical race, all three were "pipped to the post" by Bayern Munich this week. Which isn't surprising. The player has hardly made a secret of his ambitions to ply his trade at the Allianz Arena. Last month, when Dortmund appeared to attempt to block his move to the Champions League winners, Lewandowski confidently remarked:
"I do not think that this is the final decision of the board of directors and I expect the situation to change shortly."
And it did. Because today, Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp said:
"I think it is a known fact that Robert is going to play for Bayern after the upcoming season. Now the only question is how to shape the time until then."
Lewandowski, who last season netted 10 Champions League goals in 12 appearances, is expected to complete his move to Bayern next summer when his contract expires at the Westfalenstadion.
