Chelsea Transfers: Debunking 5 Ridiculous Summer Rumours

1. Wayne Rooney

"Wayne Roney to Chelsea" is either the most sensational transfer rumour of the summer or the most ridiculous one. We tend to err on the latter. Arsenal and Chelsea have maintained an interest in the England international this summer, who is reportedly unsettled at Old Trafford following a difficult campaign last season which saw the 27-year-old dropped for key games, forced into an unfamiliar midfield role and have his fitness publicly questioned by the retired Sir Alex Ferguson. All that has served as the greasing paper for this particular transfer rumour, which promises to be the most enduring of the summer with speculation going on unabashed despite claims by new United manager David Moyes that the player is "not for sale". Hardly ones to take "no" for an answer, Chelsea remain confident of securing a deal, claim the Daily Mail, who also, ironically, pointed out last month that the move was hardly likely to happen because of the Premier League champion's policy of not selling to domestic rivals. How conveniently forgetful of them. Have we got it wrong? Do you think any of these rumours have any chance of coming to fruition? Let us know in the comment section, below.
