Dinamo Tbilisi 0-5 Spurs - 5 Key Things We Learned
2. Spurs Are Improving From Set Pieces
In pre-season, a worrying fact for Tottenham Hotspur was their vulnerability from opposition set-pieces. An unfamiliar zonal marking system was in place and the Spurs defence looked all over the place - the equalising goal by Espanyol at White Hart Lane two Sundays ago epitomised this fact. Against Tbilisi, Spurs deployed a more structured man-to-man marking system and looked safe and solid from free kicks and corners, with Hugo Lloris barely being tested from such situations. It was a huge relief for Spurs fans to see this improvement, as many were worried that their team could be leaking goals by the bucket-load utilising the zonal system that was used in pre-season.
