Everton 0-0 Spurs: 5 Key Things We Learned

Tottenham Hotspur came away from Everton with a goalless draw that in the grand scheme of things did little to enhance either side's Champions League prospects. A point apiece bunched the chasing pack behind Arsenal up, so there is little to choose between the rest of the top seven going into the November international break after next week's round of matches. What did we learn from this no score draw? Here are five things we picked out:

5. Strikers Need Service

Romelu Lukaku and Roberto Soldado were both starved of supply for long spells in this encounter. Even when Spurs were on top in the first half their Spanish striker fed off scraps as Andros Townsend adopted a shoot on sight policy and Aaron Lennon offered little down the left. It's not just the Tottenham wingers that are to blame either. Lewis Holtby has had a run of game in the hole and hardly performed at all. Thus Soldado had precious little to work with and the same could be said here of Lukaku for long spells. When Everton were on the back-foot he too cut an isolated figure. Steven Pienaar and Kevin Mirallas struggled to impose themselves here, so service into Lukaku suffered as a result.
