Everton: 10 Reasons Lukaku And Barkley Are Best Signings Of 2014
8. An Excellent Partnership
Both players seem to be a part of a package deal now following their successful first season together, when Barkley played in the no.10 position behind Lukaku, and the pair played some of the best football in the league. Whilst Barkley didn't achieve any direct assists last season, his pass success rate was a stunning 85% despite his relative inconsistency. Adding to this the fact that he managed to beat his man 62.5% of the time and the six goals he added to the cause, and you have the makings of a great player to have in the hole. This is something Lukaku can feed off, his positional play is excellent but his passing isn't great, which is why Barkley is so important to his game. You need only to think back to the game against Newcastle, both players destroyed their defence almost single-handedly, making it 3-0 before half time with two from the Belgian and one from Barkley, set up by his teammate. Both players seem to compliment each other in an impeccable manner even after just one season together, so imagine how much damage they can do together now that they have a season together under their belts.
