Everton: 10 Reasons Lukaku And Barkley Are Best Signings Of 2014

7. They Fill the Attacking Gap

Everton have had frustration in the past regarding strikers and attacking players, meaning their development as a club has been slightly stunted: they've been missing a top quality striker capable of 15+ goals a season, but with the permanent signing of Lukaku, this seems to have now been rectified. The Belgian became the first player since Yakubu in 2008 to score over 15 goals in one season, after a staggering six years lacking goalmouth action. Where previous the club has held some famous strikers such as Duncan Ferguson, Andy Gray and Bob Latchford, fans have been starved in recent years, but now Romelu Lukaku now has the chance to write his name into Goodison Park folklore. Ross Barkley also has the opportunity to add to Everton's goal tally, having managed six goals last season, and provides another dimension of attacking prowess with his dribbling ability and class. Both players gel together perfectly, meaning there is potential for them to become one of the most dominant attacking forces in the Premier League currently. Add to this Kevin Miralles bombing down the wing and you have a highly threatening offensive force.
