Everton: 10 Reasons Lukaku And Barkley Are Best Signings Of 2014

4. Lukaku's Attitude

Jose Mourinho, Lukaku's former employer and seller to Everton, has said that the striker has a bad attitude, but the Portuguese manager's qualification of that statement was not only odd, but suggested a remarkably poor mentality. He claimed that: €œThe thinking behind that was, first of all, the fact that Romelu was always very clear with us in his mentality, and his approach was not highly motivated to come to a competitive situation at Chelsea.

€œHe wanted to play for Chelsea, but he wanted to be first-choice striker, which with a club of our dimension is very difficult to grant a player first-choice status." Essentially, Lukaku wanted to be the first-choice striker at Chelsea because he felt like he was the best, which is the ultimate attitude for a striker.

If a striker believes he is the best player on the pitch, he will become a top striker. A certain arrogance is needed from a forward in order for them to be successful. Everton have enough room in their squad, especially in the attacking area, to allow Lukaku to be arrogant and to allow him to flaunt this arrogance to become a top player.
