Everton: 5 Clubs That Would Suit David Moyes Next Season

his current deal expiring this summer. If he chooses not to sign a new deal he is sure to have a host of clubs keen on his services, but he may be happy to stay on at Everton if he is given certain assurances regarding the direction the club is moving in. Another possibility for Moyes is to go down the same route as Pep Guardiola in taking a sabbatical from the game and travelling the world to further his footballing education before committing to his next role. Here we look at some of the possible destinations that may suit Moyes when the time comes.

David Moyes Moyes holds all the cards with his current contract due to expire, but he may look at the situation and acknowledge that he is luckier than most managers when you consider the amount of control he has at his current club. Everton gave Moyes his shot at the big time when he moved from Preston as an ambitious 38 year old. Although he has has no trophies to show for his time at the club, Moyes has proved himself capable of working at the top level with limited resources. He has proved himself time and time again in the transfer market and he has built the trust and respect of everyone connected with his current club. But can he take the club any further without serious investment? There may be an opportunity for Moyes to invest in the team, but it may be at the expense of a couple of his existing major assets, with Fellaini and Baines' services likely to be courted this summer. The figures they would command would provide Moyes with funds to purchase 4 or 5 reasonable players, but does Moyes want to continue his footballing education at a selling club for whom he has yet to win a trophy? It could be seen as a shrewd move by Moyes in failing to commit to a new contract. His chairman, Bill Kenwright will be trying to pull out all the stops to keep his man, whilst his players will see it as a challenge to finish in as high a league position as possible, with Europa League and possibly Champions League qualification as a deal breaker. Everton fans may have noticed that Moyes often refers to Everton without a sense of belonging, it is 'they' rather than 'we'. That indicates that he does not feel an emotional tie to the club even after all this time. Having said that, Moyes knows Everton inside out, and if anyone can take them to the next level it is him. The question is whether he feels he can fulfil his ambitions at Goodison or whether he feels the grass may be greener elsewhere?
