4. Schalke
Earlier in the season Moyes himself expressed a desire to
one day manage in Germany stating 'I always had the hope of being a coach abroad. If I had the choice, I would probably go to Germany, in part because of the mentality, which is similar to mine. I'm also fascinated by what happens in German football.' At present former youth team coach Jens Keller is currently in charge but he is expected to be replaced in the summer with Schalke currently lying 5th in Bundesliga and with a good shout of Champions League qualification. If this target were to be achieved, any potential new manager would surely be given funds to strengthen and mould the team into their own. As Moyes pointed out, the style of German football would suit him as his teams are usually solid defensively but are also capable of fast flowing attacking football which can be as effective as it is pleasing to the eye. The only British manager to try his hand in Bundesliga was 'Schteve' McLaren who took over at Wolfsburg following a successful spell in Holland with Twente. There will be many that would fancy Moyes to surpass anything McLaren achieved in Europe and let us hope that he would do so without adopting a silly accent in the process!
