Everton Transfers: 5 Signings David Moyes Must Make To Crack The Top 4

1. Keep Current Stars

Although Everton do need to add a little something to their squad to stay competitive, their priority must be to keep the stars they already have. That's why the most important bit of business David Moyes can conduct this window - short of singing Lionel Messi - is to ensure he doesn't allow his best players to leave. Fellaini and Leighton Baines in particular have been consistently linked with big money moves to Chelsea and Manchester United respectively and the loss of either would be a massive blow to Everton's Champions League Ambitions. As previously mentioned Fellaini's repositioning behind the striker has been a revelation, turning him from a decent, but unspectacular (aside from his hairdo) defensive midfielder into one of Europe's hottest properties. Meanwhile Baines has been a long term target of Manchester United as they look to replace Patrice Evra. Again Everton would be able to pick up a large fee for one of their prized assets, but they will struggle to replace him with a player of similar calibre. Baines is a solid defender who is not prone to making errors, but his real strength lies in his attacking relationship with Stephan Pienaar down Everton's left. His offensive input leads to a high number of assists, normally stemming from his great crossing ability. Oh and his set pieces aren't too bad either.
