F1 2013 Season Finale: 5 Reasons Why The Brazilian Grand Prix Is A Must-See Race

2. The End Of An Era For V8 Engines

Rean As if there weren€™t enough things coming to an end this year, the screaming V8 engines of F1 will also be making their exit after the Brazilian Grand Prix. With new regulations coming into effect in 2014, new V6 turbo engines will be replacing the 8 cylinder powertrains which have been the regulation since 2006. Current engine manufacturers Ferrari, Mercedes and Renault have produced new V6 replacements for next year, whilst Ford subsidiary Cosworth will be leaving the F1 scene for good as Marussia change to Ferrari engines for 2014. The V8 engine noise has been the definitive sound of Formula 1 since 2006, and has been produced by a multitude of suppliers over the years including the above names but also Toyota, Honda and BMW. Honda is set to make a return, not next year but 2015, as the engine supplier to McLaren, who lose their long-relationship with Mercedes-Benz. Honda have been one of the manufacturers to already release the audio of the new regulation V6 engines, and though some are worried, there is still a distinctive sound of F1.

I like writing about films and hope you like reading about them too. And watching them, of course.
