I, like many others, vastly underestimated FC Sheriff - and it seems that Spurs themselves did too. Having previously breezed past two supposedly superior teams to Sheriff in Tromso and Anzhi in Group K, Spurs were expected to give the Moldovans a severe thrashing. That turned out not to be the case at all and, in all honesty, Spurs were lucky not to come away with a defeat as Hugo Lloris was a very busy man all evening. Sheriff had more than their fair share of chances and, in the first half in particular, it was quite amazing that Spurs were the only team to put the ball in the back of the net. Even with a relatively strong team out, Spurs (or any other team) should never be complacent against any team in European competition. Any team in Europe has the potential to shock and Sheriff nearly did exactly that.
