Frank Lampard's 15 Most Memorable Chelsea Moments

4. Winning The League Cup - 2005

Before Lampard made his move to Chelsea his trophy record was barren, but the same cannot be said 13 years later, as he is now one of England€™s most decorated players and it all started with the 2005 League Cup. It was the first season of the new-look Chelsea, Mourinho had put together a strong team and what better opportunity to quench Abramovich€™s thirst for silverware than win the first piece on offer, the League Cup? Liverpool were their opponents and the team from Merseyside took an early lead with John Arne Riise volleying home after just 45 seconds. Chelsea equalised with only 11 minutes left as Steven Gerrard scored an own goal. In extra time goals from Drogba and Kezman meant even a goal from Nunez would make no difference. And a trophy filled decade had just started.
