Frank Lampard's 15 Most Memorable Chelsea Moments

15. His Champions League Final Goal Against Man Utd - 2008

€œI think about all my successes and failures, and sometimes the failures stick in your head as much as the wins.€ Frank Lampard
Moscow was the setting for one of Lampard€™s failures, in what was the first all-English Champions League final. Manchester United took the lead in the 26th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo steered his header past Petr Cech. At the end of the first half Chelsea found an equaliser, a Michael Essien shot deflected off Nemanja Vidic and then Rio Ferdinand, leaving Lampard to score past a wrong footed Edwin Van Der Sar. In the second half Chelsea looked the better side, but no one could find a breakthrough and the game went to extra time. A fist on Nemaja Vidic by Didier Drogba meant Chelsea were reduced to 10 men, so Chelsea were without the Ivorian for the shootout. Lampard scored his penalty, but there was nothing he could do as he watched John Terry and Nicholas Anelka both miss their spot-kicks, with Chelsea losing 6-5 in the shootout, but that takes nothing away from the fact that he scored in the Champions League for his team.
