Frank Lampard's 15 Most Memorable Chelsea Moments

14. Chelsea Vs Barcelona, Champions League Semi-final 2012, Second Leg

From one Champion League exploit to another, although this game will be a treasured memory for Lampard rather than a bittersweet one. Having won the first leg 1-0, Chelsea travelled to the Nou Camp with the realistic dream of playing in their second Champions League Final, but those dreams quickly began to vanish as a goal from Alexis Sanchez was followed up by a red card for John Terry, after he kneed Sanchez in the back, and then an Andreas Iniésta strike completed the turnaround. Lampard was handed the captain€™s armband and just before half time he delivered a delightful reverse ball to Ramires, for the Brazilian to lob Victor Valdes and get Chelsea that crucial away goal. The next 45 minutes were dominated by some heroic defending, a Messi penalty miss and Fernando Torres running the length of the pitch to score, putting the tie beyond Barcelona This is undoubtedly one of the greatest nights in Chelsea€™s history, although Lampard€™s performance is very undermentioned. He had to use all of his experience to settle the team after the departure of John Terry and showed outstanding discipline to sit in and stifle the Catalan€™s relentless attacks in the second half.
