Frank Lampard's 15 Most Memorable Chelsea Moments

8. 164 Consecutive Games

In October 2001, Chelsea played Leicester City, and though unknown at the time it was the start of one of the most understated records in English football. 163 Premier League games followed and Frank Lampard was present in every single game overtaking the previous record that was set by David James, who played 159 consecutive games between 1993 and 1998. This record came to end in December 2005: Lampard was down on Jose Mourinho team sheet for the match against Manchester City, but in the warm-up he told the backroom staff that he was suffering from a virus and not able to play. We are now in the days where squad rotation is the norm, meaning we are unlikely to see this record beaten, but it is a huge testament to the player's mentality and work ethic that he holds this record.
