The FA Cup final had spent 6 years at the Millennium Stadium and there was much anticipation as it was about to return to its rightful home, the new Wembley. With the two best teams in England at the time - Chelsea and Manchester United - contesting the final, much was expected. Unfortunately, it did not live up to its billing. In truth it was a dour 90 minutes, but eventually it came to life in extra time, with Ryan Giggs passing up the best opportunity of the game, as he struggled to make effective contact on a Wayne Rooney cross, making it all too easy for Petr Cech. With penalties looming, Didier Drogba picked up the ball on the edge of the area, playing the ball to Lampard who immediately knocked a beautifully weighted ball into the penalty area, where Drogba had continued his run and buried the ball into the back of the net. Chelsea were FA Cup winners. Extra time is a place for tired legs and tired minds, but evidently someone forgot to tell Frank Lampard, who still had the energy and composure to pull off an inch perfect pass to set-up the winner. To say he's a big occasion player is an understatement.
