Liverpool Fans' 8 Most Disliked Players Of The Modern Era

1. El Hadji Diouf

For all the disloyalty shown by the likes of Torres and Owen, the lack of quality from Konchesky and Diao and the enigmatic nature of Collymore, El Hadji Diouf simply has to be Liverpool fans' most hated player of the modern era, if not ever. Having seemed a likeable, exciting character for Senegal during the 2002 World Cup- he had signed for the Reds just before the start of the tournament- it didn't take long to realise he was a nasty piece of work. He was unsporting, lazy, arrogant, and simply wasn't the type of player Liverpool fans have become so used to adoring over the years. Barring two goals on his home debut against Southampton, Diouf went on to score just four more times during his two years on Merseyside. The final straw came in a UEFA Cup clash with Celtic in 2003, when the forward despicably spat at one of their fans. It earned him a hefty fine in the process, and left many realising just what a horrible character he was. There has never been a more a detestable player to represent Liverpool.
