Liverpool Transfers: 10 Game-Changing Players Rodgers Must Sign In January

5. Joao Moutinho

joao moutinho With Steven Gerrard usually being the heartbeat of the Liverpool midfield, Anfield would surely welcome a player with massive creative ability and a real engine and work ethic. Moutinho has all of these qualities, he wasn't really able to shine for Portugal in the European Championship this year but when he's settled in a team he will run the midfield which is something Liverpool would relish. Tottenham missed out on Moutinho in the summer as a natural replacement for Luka Modric, but he would be a player who could fit in at Anfield perfectly as he could recreate the fantastic passing array of Xabi Alonso, mixed with the dynamism and creativity Liverpool are severely lacking in central areas. If he isn't snapped up by a Premier League team soon he will only end up going to Italy or Spain and become a success there as he's a player made for big games, and it's surprising that he's still playing in Portugal when lesser players like Raul Meireles have made the switch to the Premier League.
