3. Fabricio Coloccini - Newcastle United
Over the past 3 years Coloccini has established himself as one of the best centre-halves in the country and was a major contributing factor to Newcastle's incredible season last time out. His main attributes are the way he commands and leads the back four, something that Liverpool have been lacking this season, and his sheer physical presence, which strikers find hard to break down. These attributes have seen him promoted to club captain at Newcastle and he has become a firm fans' favourite up on Tyneside. In terms of a transfer, it has been rumoured that Newcastle are interested in Andy Carroll (via
The Guardian) so he could be used as a makeweight or in a swap deal to lighten what would be a pretty hefty transfer fee for the Argentina International. The only thing that would worry me is Coloccini's indication in January that he wanted to return to Argentina, which could be a deal breaker in what, otherwise, would be an excellent bit of business for Liverpool.
