Ander Herrera was one of Athletic Bilbao's most impressive players as he helped the La Liga outfit to the final of the Europa League last season, knocking out Manchester United in the process. Liverpool were clearly impressed with the 23-year old's performances because later that summer, they were reportedly interested in bringing him to Anfield. With Rodgers well aware that midfielder Steven Gerrard is in the twilight of his Anfield career, the Northern Irishman is keen to add further quality to his engine room following the capture of Philippe Coutinho. Rodgers is building a promising and exciting young team at Anfield and Herrera would be a good addition to it.
