David villa Along with Arsenal, Liverpool have been linked with out-of-favour Barcelona striker David Villa. However, the current La Liga leaders have thus far been unprepared to allow their player to leave, and have always insisted that he will remain at the Nou Camp despite his limited appearances since returning from a broken leg recently. Though Liverpool aren't exactly crying out for a new forward, given the continued red-hot form of Luis Suarez and acquisition of Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea, it is felt in some quarters that the latter isn't quite the finished article and needs time to develop. A marquee signing at Anfield would provide Sturridge with competition and an opportunity to cut his teeth at Liverpool, whilst also making the club more competitive in the Premier League. Given Liverpool€™s eagerness to sign players at the younger end of the age-spectrum along with their attempts to reduce the wage bill, a move for Villa in January would be quite shocking, not least because they would be putting Arsene Wenger's nose right out of join in the process.
