Liverpool Transfers: 5 Blockbuster Signings Brendan Rodgers Could Make In January

1. Yohan CabayeArsenal failed with a cheeky £10 million bid for Newcastle playmaker Cabaye over the summer, so Rodgers knows the Reds will have to stump up more than that to sign the Frenchman in January. The Daily Express claimed on Tuesday that Liverpool were ready to rival the Gunners and interest from abroad in Cabaye to land him. Serie A leaders Roma or mega rich Ligue outfit Paris Saint-Germain are other possible destinations for the player. Cabaye could certainly take over from Steven Gerrard as the driving force in midfield at Anfield. His spectacular long range goals make him a threat from outside the box. At 27 he is in his prime and a regular for France when fit. There is the small matter of how the Reds would accommodate both Cabaye and Philippe Coutinho though. Prior to suffering a shoulder injury the Brazilian was in fine form, yet looked rusty when he came on in the second half of the Arsenal defeat. Liverpool are described as "monitoring" Cabaye's situation. He ticks all the boxes in terms of technical ability and having the wow factor that gets the Kop going into its fanatical frenzy. Newcastle need to name their price before these rumours have real substance.
