Sticking with the wide theme, yet another alternative target for Rodgers is Verona's loan star Juan Iturbe a player owned by Porto. Like Salah, this diminutive Argentine is a left-footed option that plays from the right.
According to talkSPORT, Verona have first refusal on making Iturbe, who has scored twice in seven Serie A outings so far this term, a permanent signing. The relative minnows of the Italian top flight may struggle to find the £11.75 million asking price, however. Iturbe could thus become at the centre of a battle that also involves Liverpool and Inter Milan. There is already a strong Argentinian contingent representing the blue half of the San Siro. To veterans Javier Zanetti, Diego Milito and Esteban Cambiasso you can also add Rodrigo Palacio, Mauro Icardi, Ricky Alvarez and others. In fact Inter possess a very strong South American flavour totalling 14 first team players that also take in Brazil, Colombia and Uruguay. Backed by the investment potential of new owner Erick Thohir you would make the Nerazzurri favourites to land 20-year-old Iturbe. Whether Rodgers and the Reds choose to get involved a bidding war for this young player remains to be seen. One thing is for sure though wherever Iturbe ends up playing his football he face a big leap to make it at Liverpool or Inter.
