Liverpool Transfers: 5 Midfield Replacements For Steven Gerrard

1. Yohan Cabaye

While I could easily have put a player like Michu in the list, I didn't because of what happened when Liverpool recruited Charlie Adam: he had one good year in the Premier League with Blackpool and was then deemed ready for the top. However, one player recruited into the Premier League who has been an undisputed success is Frenchman Yohan Cabaye, who was brought in from Lille in 2011 by Newcastle's excellent scouting network, headed by Chief Scout Tony Carr. He really is a top quality player who could grace any football pitch in the world with his extraordinary passing ability, while he is also more than able to put the ball into the back of the net- from a free kick 25 yards out, if he could choose. While he isn't the battler Gerrard is, the likes of Lucas Leiva are more than capable of focussing on that side of the game, which would leave Cabaye to wreak his havoc from his right boot- currently Newcastle's magical wand. In my opinion, he is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and it is only a matter of time before one of the world's biggest clubs come knocking to sign the classy Frenchman- could it be Liverpool? Any more ideas, football fans? I want to hear who you think could fill a Gerrard shapes hole. Write your answers in the comments sections below...
