Liverpool Transfers: 5 Reasons Rodgers Should Sign Samuel Eto'o

1. His Experience

If you're buying a veteran to boost the scoring potential of your squad, you might as well identify one who has played in multiple countries, succeeded in most of them, and picked up a huge number of European appearances over the years, and in Eto'o that's exactly what Liverpool would be getting. He might not be the sprightly attacker he once was, but you have to think that Eto'o coming off the bench in the Champions League in a tricky game would be preferable to relying on some of the lower level support at Liverpool - which is perhaps why Iago Aspas has been sent out for a bit more experience at Sevilla - and if Sturridge and the first team need a rest for a League Cup game, it would be better to be able to rely on a second string lead by Eto'o and Lambert, rather than Lambert alone. And his Champions League experience is very much key to Liverpool, who have a fairly young side - Steven Gerrard aside - who have graduated to the club without playing too much Champions League football at all. Eto'o menawhile has a wealth of that experience, and would be a key grounding influence in the dressing room, even if he doesn't play a great deal in that competition, which he openly admits to loving:

"I will continue at the top level. I will continue to play the Champions League. My romance with this competition is far from over. I will not tell you where, but I will be at the top level. I am 33 and I have two World Cups to play."
