Liverpool Transfers: 5 Signings That Could Make Reds Great Again

1. Edinson Cavani

Edinson-Cavani Yes, Liverpool may just have signed Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea to beef up their forward line, and he already looks like an inspired signing as he prodded home against Manchester United yesterday after stepping off the bench to set up a really tense last half hour at Old Trafford. Along with goal-machine Luis Suarez, Brendan Rodgers finally has options going forward after ditching Andy Carroll, Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt last year. But with Sturridge only 23, the feeling is Liverpool need one more experienced out-and-out goalscorer for them to really trouble the top teams. Rodgers has lined up Napoli striker Edinson Cavani who has, according to reports, agreed to talk to both Liverpool and rivals Arsenal over a potential move to the Premier League this month. He would be perfect for Liverpool - linking up with fellow Uruguayan Luis Suarez would provide Rodgers with a deadly combination of strikers and one of the most feared two-pronged attacks in England to match the Argentine forward line Champions Manchester City have in Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero. Cavani is one of the most sought after strikers in the world and is the current top goal scorer in Serie A. He has plundered 57 goals in 81 appearances since joining Napoli in 2010.
