5. Angel Di Maria - Real Madrid
Angel Di Maria was linked to the who's-who of world football during the most recent summer window, and as explored in the introduction, Liverpool lack wide options and Di Maria is the sort of big name that could help Rodgers' side's title run. With Real signing a long-term agreement with star Christiano Ronaldo on top of the likes of Gareth Bale, Isco and breakout star Jesé Rodriguez, Ancelotti may be willing to offload the Argentinian after breaking the bank to signing the aforementioned Welshman. It may take a considerable sum to convince Madrid to sell Angel, but he is an exceptional talent who deserves a large price tag and would be a sound investment. The likes of Bayern, Chelsea and Arsenal would also be potential avenues should Di Maria be available for a move away, but the promise of regular first team football and the improvements made by Liverpool as of late makes Anfield a plausible and appealing option for the Argentine. As with Hughes, the signing of Di Maria would symbolise a 'one-up' on Liverpool's division rivals and would introduce them as serious contenders for the title for the future after disappointing recent finishes. And of course, should other signings come off, Liverpool could line up with the dream front four of Di Maria on one wing, Sturridge on the other with Suarez and Benteke up top.
