Liverpool Transfers: 7 Players To Make Rodgers' Reds Champions

6. Christian Benteke - Aston Villa

Belgian striker Benteke has been linked with almost everyone in the upper echelon in the Premier League since his blistering form for Aston Villa drew attention to him, and he would add to one of the strongest strike forces in the division. As already mentioned, Liverpool currently lack depth in the final third and look like a different side when Suarez and/or Sturridge are unavailable for selection. Though the Belgian international wouldn't likely come cheap, many forget that he is just 23 years of age and has a long career ahead of him. The current Aston Villa frontman submitted a transfer request in the subsequent summer window, only to go on to sign a new contract with Lambert's side, but when an occurrence like this happens, it inevitably begs the question of whether money is the striker's motive - an improved contract was all it took for Benteke to stay. Should Liverpool be willing to offer him an irresistible contract, he may just submit another request in the future and force a move away. Beneteke would add much-needed strength and height up top which the Sturridge-Suarez pairing lacks, and his integration into Rodgers' side could see Suarez put into a deeper role or, alternatively, Sturridge to play on the wing as he has in the past. Alternatively, a top three of the aforementioned trio would be one of the more lethal in recent history and would add to the already goal-happy campaign that Liverpool is enjoying this season. If Rodgers has a large transfer kitty available and is able to lure the Belgian away from Villa Park, this transfer would show that Liverpool mean business.
