Liverpool vs Crystal Palace - 5 Ways Eagles Could Pull Off An Upset

3. Score The First Goal

Getting that first goal would prove a massive accomplishment for Crystal Palace away at Anfield. It would give the entire team confidence and belief in their abilities which would cause the home side to push on and try to search more desperately for an equaliser. It would be an interesting opportunity for the away side as having that lead would force Liverpool to leave more space at the back as they open up their formation. Sitting back and playing on the counter simply wouldn't work as Palace would be quite happy to snatch the first goal then sit back and invite the pressure. If they could sustain that and possibly nick a second from a set piece or corner then all three points would be wrapped up. It would also mean the front players could play for fun and with ease as a degree of pressure would be removed. Palace scoring a single goal would be seen as a surprise from most football pundits and I think if they were given the remit of grabbing an early one then a second would be more likely to come as the likes of Gayle would be given space to run onto balls supplied from midfield and run at the Liverpool defence. Crystal Palace on the front foot would be a dangerous prospect as they could just as easily throw away the lead and succumb to a 5-1 defeat but rather get the early goal and put yourself into that position then surrender to a whipping.
