Man City: 5 Reasons Why Joe Hart Should Get More Credit

2. He Is Not Your Typical Goalkeeper

Joe Hart Aside from his inarguable talents, his off pitch demeanour says a lot about Hart: his personality is helping shrug off the old stereotyped view of the goalkeeper being a misnomer or enigmatic figure in the dressing room. Goalkeepers are often seen as the shy, reserved type when it comes to football, or any sport really, but not for Joe. Even Mancini has referred to his €˜cockiness€™ and self confidence displayed in his performances. This approach to the game sees him as €˜one of the lads€™ and not a tag on to the squad, providing better integration and squad dynamic and atmosphere. Ultimately helping shake the quiet versus normal character of goalkeepers, helping reframe the stereotype of being seen as the oddball in the team! Although this is true, he is still eccentric though, like his habit of enjoying the chance to shout at any penalty takers he faces, in order to put them off, which wouldn't come with the usual reserved stereotype of the modern 'keeper.
