Man City Transfers: 5 Centre-Backs Citizens Need To Bolster Defence

3. Martin Skrtel

Liverpool's Martin Skrtel is another defensive option for Manchester City after the centre-back fell out of favour under Brendan Rodgers at Anfield last season. The Slovak international lost his place in Rodgers's starting XI back in January and later reflected on last season being "one of the worst" of his career. And with Kolo Toure arriving on a free transfer from City, it could be that the 28-year-old finds playing time difficult to come by again this season having made just 25 Premier League appearances last term. Liverpool aren't in Europe this season and the opportunity to play regular Champions League football and compete for silverware following six seasons on Merseyside that has seen him win just one League Cup might be appealing. As will the chance to play regular football in a World Cup year.
