2. Ezequiel Garay
Alternatively, perhaps City could make a bid for Benfica's superb Ezequiel Garay. The Argentina international has been on the radar of the Citizen's arch-rivals United for much of the summer transfer window with various reports claiming the champions have
already agreed a deal for the centre-back. However, at present, no agreement has been reached and United are yet to sign anyone this summer, let alone Garay. And that could leave the door open for City to pounce on the defender and snap him up right from under the noses of United, bolstering their defence and getting one over on their deadly cross-city rivals in the process. Garay put in a series of sterling performances for Benfica last season and was a key part of the squad that reached the Europa League final, which the Portuguese side lost to Chelsea. At 6' 4", the South American is a physically imposing centre-back just like Vincent Kompany and could form a menacing partnership with the Belgian.
