7. Sir Alex Ferguson€™s Presence

Van Gaal has come out and said that he has no issues with Sir Alex watching matches at Old Trafford. Indeed, the new United boss even suggested that he would happily go for a drink with Sir Alex, explaining the two have before in the past. During Moyes€™ reign, the presence of Sir Alex clearly had an impact. Every time a goal went in against United, cameras would turn towards the club€™s most successful manager, eager to see his reaction. Giggs is a disciple of Sir Alex and the Scotsman will most likely be in full support of his former player, should there be a conflict between him and van Gaal. Sir Alex had a huge say in the club appointing Moyes and as such he could have a big say as to when Giggs steps into the managerial seat. Van Gaal would be wise to keep him onside.
