4. John Terry: Chelsea v Barcelona, 2012
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRtSzVJzUuE John Terry would become the first of two Chelsea players to be dismissed by Cakir in 2012 when he was handed a straight red card during his side's Champions League semi-final victory over Barcelona. The England international inexplicably kneed Alexis Sanchez during the first half of the game and was dismissed by the Turkish referee, leaving his side with a mountain to climb to reach the final. Their task was made even more difficult by Gary Cahill's injury and the Blues fell behind 2-0, seemingly leaving their dreams of winning their first ever Champions League in tatters. Incredibly, goals from Ramires and a famous last-gasp Torres leveler earned Chelsea a 2-2 draw to send them through 3-2 on aggregate. Terry ended up missing the biggest game of his career and later called into question Cakir's decision to dismiss him and later told Sky Sports
he should not have been sent off, denying that he had deliberately kneed Sanchez. He would later jointly lift Chelsea's first Champions League in their history with Frank Lampard following victory over Bayern Munich in the final.
