Man Utd: 5 Players That Have Fallen Foul Of Sir Alex Ferguson

3. Ruud Van Nistelrooy

Van Nistelrooy was one of the great Manchester United strikers, and proves that no matter who you are, you can't get on the wrong side of Ferguson. With 150 goals in 220 appearances for United, Van Nistelrooy was a world-class striker. His initial unhappiness occured in the build up to the 2006 League Cup Final where he was named amongst the substitutes. This was later rumoured to have been because of a training ground bust-up with a young Cristiano Ronaldo no less - and Ferguson was not best pleased.

To add to Van Nistelrooy's punishment, Ferguson dropped him for the last Premier League game of the season and was named amongst the substitutes. On hearing the news, Van Nistelrooy is rumoured to have stormed out of the stadium 3 hours before kick off - and thus spelling the end of his Manchester United career. He was shipped out to Real Madrid in the summer of 2006 for a reported fee of £20m.
