Man Utd: 5 Players That Have Fallen Foul Of Sir Alex Ferguson
4. Roy Keane
Roy Keane was the stereotypical Manchester United captain. He would fight to the end and drag players through a game. Perhaps his most committed performance came in the 1999 Champions League Semi-Final against Juventus after receiving a yellow card which meant that if United were to reach the final, he would miss the game through suspension. In what was considered one of his best performances wearing the red shirt, Keane got United's first goal to spark a comeback and beat Juventus on aggregate and take United into the final. This however, is not enough to keep you on Fergie's good side. An outburst on MUTV about Rio Ferdinand in which Keane exclaimed: "Just because you earn £120,000 a week and play well for 20 minutes against Tottenham, you think you're a superstar" didn't go down well with Ferguson, and after criticism of United's training camp in Portugal in 2005, Keane was dropped from the team and stripped of the United captaincy, eventually concluding in Keane leaving United and joining Celtic on a free transfer.
