Man Utd: 5 Reasons Why David Moyes' Team Are So Different To Sir Alex Ferguson's

4. Loss Of Fear Factor

A point that goes hand in hand with his lack of authority is the loss of fear factor that is now apparent at the club. Clubs such as Everton and Newcastle United have gone to Old Trafford and won for the first time in 21 and 41 years respectively, showing that the aura of power and success around the club has vanished in less than five months. A trademark of Sir Alex's time at Old Trafford was that his team always put up and fight, usually until the 95th minute, but for some reason Moyes has already lost that psychological battle with visiting teams. Teams such as West Brom, Southampton and Tottenham have also taken points off the champions at Old Trafford, and more recently Swansea City and Sunderland have inflicted cup defeats in the FA and Capital One Cups respectively. More and more clubs have been willing to take on the Red Devils, much to the chagrin of the home fans, who have booed their team off on numerous occasions. You would expect a side that opened up against United would leave itself vulnerable to a thrashing, but this has not been the case all season, and Moyes has struggled to impose United's traditionally big reputation on every team they face.
