Man Utd: 5 Reasons Why David Moyes' Team Are So Different To Sir Alex Ferguson's
3. Ferguson Didn't Have Ferguson Looking Over His Shoulder
One thing that Ferguson definitely didn't have during his time at the club was a man like himself watching his every move. He was the supreme leader of the club and had free will to run the club as he wished. His connection with the Red Devils was always going to be hard to break, and this was compounded by his appointment at boardroom level. Despite the obvious benefits, it has not helped Moyes one bit, as Ferguson has been pictured at virtually every home game and quite a few away games watching on from the stands, seemingly unable to let go of his baby. The scene takes on almost an unnerving tone seeing the great man viewing his successor's work first hand, particularly given his penchant for wearing a very Godfather-like hat. It cannot be the easiest thing for Moyes to turn around after a bad result to see yet another irate pensioner in the stands, albeit one who isn't booing him off the pitch. In general the club handled that side of the transition very badly, and you can't help but feel that the sooner Ferguson watches the games from the comfort of his own home, the better off Moyes will be.
