Man Utd: 5 Reasons Why They Won't Win The Title

2. Lack Of Quality In Wide Areas

As well as being light on quality in the middle of the park, United also look pretty desperate in the wide areas, too. Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United always attacked with width, but too many wide men have lost form since then for that to work as an effective strategy for David Moyes. Ashley Young has been dreadful all season, the worst player on the pitch in the 4-1 humiliation at the hands of Manchester City, and still failing to live up to the hype that surrounded his move from Aston Villa two years ago. Antonio Valencia, sadly, has been a shadow of his former self ever since suffering a horror leg break against Rangers in September 2010, and the less said about Nani, the better. The Portuguese is far too lightweight, was easily shoved off the ball against Stoke, and always contrives to waste chances from set-pieces. United's wingers are in a period of total disarray and there isn't one exception to that statement.
