Man Utd Transfers: 10 Dream Ways Van Gaal Should Spend His Unlimited Budget

2. Arturo Vidal

Ed Woodward's announcement over the weekend that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will have a limitless transfer budget to spend could make all the difference in the Arturo Vidal saga. United have been linked with the Juventus midfielder all summer, but would need to make a 'high bid' to finally get the deal done. Juve are reluctant to sell their prized asset this summer but have indicated they are prepared to sell if the price is right, and United must pay whatever it takes to bring Vidal to Old Trafford. The tough-tackling Chilean was one of the stars of this summer's World Cup and would improve the Red Devi's midfield to no end, with his playing style earning him comparisons to Roy Keane. Nicknamed Il Guerriero ("The Warrior") by Italian press, Vidal is a box-to-box midfielder just as well versed in his attacking duties as he is his defensive. He has scored 28 goals in 95 total appearances for Juventus since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2011, and is quickly earning a reputation as one of the world's best midfielders. He would certainly add a lot of bite to United's side in the engine room, and could be their answer to Manchester City's Yaya Toure.
