Man Utd Transfers: 10 Dream Ways Van Gaal Should Spend His Unlimited Budget

1. Edinson Cavani

Though United's main priorities are to address defence and midfield this summer, they could also be in the market for another striker. Robin van Persie struggled through injury last season and Wayne Rooney's World Cup campaign would seem to suggest he is in a steady state of decline, while Danny Welbeck has failed to set the pulses racing in his five seasons at Old Trafford so far and Javier Hernandez could be on the brink of leaving. Combined, these problems could put the Red Devils slap bang in the middle of the transfer market for another centre forward this summer, and they may look to highly-rated Edinson Cavani. Cavani is one of the world's best strikers at present, scoring 29 goals in 34 appearances in his final season at former side Napoli before joining PSG in 2013. He has struggled in France, however, and is reportedly unhappy with having to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Cavani is set for showdown talks with club officials this week and is apparently looking to force through his departure from the Ligue 1 outfit. Should Louis van Gaal decide he needs more firepower, Cavani would be the dream signing, and one that could send United right back to the top of the English game.
