Over the last 20 years, Paul Scholes has more or less been a mainstay of the Manchester United central midfield barring a six month spell where he called time on his career and decided to retire. That period from August 2011 to January 2012 saw a couple of attempts to try to replace him, but no-one seemed to exert the influence on the midfield like he did, and of course the midfield dynamo chose to rethink his decision to quit. Many pundits were constantly noting the lack of creativity and the lack of finding a ready made replacement for when that day would eventually come. It did and no-one came, so what better way to replace the creativity and severe influence of Paul Scholes... with the creativity and severe influence of Paul Scholes. His decision to come out of retirement galvanised the team and plugged the gap left by himself. When that day eventually comes (again!) for Scholes to permanantly call it a day, then United will be bereft of his talent he has shown since his debut in 1994. So, Sir Alex Ferguson needs a shortlist and I've come up with 10 potential players to step up and give them a lasting legacy. Like most of Ferguson's signings my list is made up of players under the age of 27, and furthermore it is not in order of personal preference... So, let us see who can do it?!
