Man Utd Transfers: 5 Players David Moyes Can Sign With His Bottomless Summer Funds

2. Gareth Bale

If United really wanted to break the bank this summer, they could make a move for highly-rated Tottenham winger Gareth Bale. Moyes has been given the green light to press ahead with his efforts to sign the double PFA Player of the Year Award winner, and has been told players in the £60 million-£70 million bracket are not out of the club's financial reach. Bale is a long-term target for the Red Devils and Sir Alex Ferguson attempted to sign the Welshman while he was at Southampton, shortly before he moved to White Hart Lane instead. Since then the 23-year-old has gone on to establish himself as one of the world's best midfielders and goals, and awards, have been free-flowing. Bale was the third-highest goalscorer in the Premier League last season, enjoyed a clean-sweep of wins at the PFA Award ceremony and has been named in the UEFA Team of the Year throughout his short career. United would have to compete with some of the continent's biggest hitters for the star's signature, with Real Madrid said to have a firm interest in the youngster, while Spurs would demand an astronomical fee for the attacker.
