5. Ezequiel Garay
According to reports, Manchester United are
on the verge of signing the Benfica centre-back, who is rated at £17 million by the Portuguese outfit. The Reds need at least one new centre-half this summer considering Rio Ferdinand turns 35 in November, while Nemanja Vidic, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling suffered from worrying injury set-backs last season. Bringing in some extra cover wouldn't be such a bad thing taking United's
woeful defensive record last season into account. In the first 19 games of last season, United conceded 28 goals, an average of 1.47 per match. And Garay could help shore up the leaky back-four next season. He marshalled Benfica to the final of last season's Europa League, which his side lost to Chelsea, and at 6ft 4in, the Argentinian possesses the same intimidating stature as Nemanja Vidic.
