Man Utd Transfers: 5 Reasons David Moyes Must Be Careful If He Wants To Rebuild His Squad

3. Juan Mata Was Easier To Sign In January Due To Lack Of Games

It€™s easy for fans to point to the £37.1m capture of Juan Mata in the January transfer window as a sign they can still attract the best players in the world. Of course, Mata is a very good player that has made a big impact in the Premier League since he has been a Chelsea player. However, Moyes shouldn€™t allow the signing of the Spaniard to cloud his judgement on what he can expect to achieve this summer. The simple fact of the matter is that the player was obtainable because he wasn€™t getting games with the West London side. Let€™s be realistic here, he wouldn€™t have left Jose Mourinho€™s team if his was regular in the side because Chelsea would have offered him a better chance of winning the league and playing Champions League football next season. This really goes back to the previous point that Man Utd have to target players that aren€™t playing, and are therefore desperate for a move. The problem is though is there isn€™t many players such a situation would apply to, so players may have to be signed that aren€™t playing for the biggest clubs or leagues. The simple fact is that another Juan Mata signing may not be achievable during the summer.
