Man Utd Transfers: 5 Reasons Why Wesley Sneijder Snub Was Right

1. Ego

wes_H05F7 The majority of professional footballers have a decent sized ego, and that is not necessarily bad. The issue is that Sir Alex runs a tight ship in Manchester, and the last thing he needs in a title battle, is to deal with another big ego in the dressing room. Ferguson is notorious for keeping his players in check and focused on the prize, so why risk any extra problems? Sneijder's ego has in fact gotten in the way of his footballing career. By refusing to take a wage cut at Inter, which to be fair, was his right, he was frozen out of the team, and had not played since September for Inter. It is somewhat understandable that Wesley would not want to recant on a contract he had already signed, but it does show what is on the players mind. Ferguson will want a player to be focused on the football rather than on the money. So despite Wesley Sneijder being a great player who has achieved much in his career, it is clear that Manchester United was not the correct fit, and more importantly, Ferguson was right in letting this opportunity pass!
