Man Utd Transfers: 5 Shock Moves Fergie Could Make Before Window Shuts

2. Frank Lampard

One of the most surprising potential transfers this week would definitely be Frank Lampard swapping Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford and the blue jersey for a red one. It wouldn't be a shock at all were he to leave this month, considering he has been told he is deemed surplus to requirements by the Blues, but it certainly would stop a lot of people in their tracks were he to join one of Chelsea's biggest title foes. Ferguson has a long-standing interest in the midfielder dating back to a failed attempt to hijack his move from West Ham United to Chelsea back in 2001, and even rejected the opportunity to sign him last January. Lampard meanwhile has made no secret of his desire to stay at Chelsea beyond this season but that simply isn't going to happen. The Englishman could then consider ending his career in fairy-tale fashion at England's most successful club, and would be available for a complete snip considering he will be leaving on a free in the summer. But joining United would clearly be an astonishing move considering his loyalty with Chelsea. Source(s): Telegraph
